Hypertec Teams Up with 5C Group and Together AI to Launch $5 Billion European AI Infrastructure Initiative

Hypertec, the Canadian leader in sustainable AI infrastructure, has announced a major international move with the launch of a strategic partnership alongside 5C Group and Together AI. The alliance aims to expand into Europe and invest up to $5 billion in cutting-edge AI infrastructure, targeting a rising demand for sovereign, regulation-compliant AI capabilities.

This marks the trio’s first joint AI deployment on European soil, a key milestone in their global roadmap to build scalable, high-performance AI cloud ecosystems. Initial rollouts are slated to begin in late 2025, with aggressive buildouts continuing through 2028 across countries including France, the UK, Italy, and Portugal.

Combining Hypertec’s hardware innovation, 5C’s world-class data center engineering, and Together AI’s powerful AI-native cloud platform, the alliance delivers end-to-end AI infrastructure integration—from chips to cloud. This joint venture will enable high-density compute environments tailored for training frontier models, supporting large-scale inference workloads, and accelerating generative AI development at scale.

The initiative will unlock up to 2 GW of AI-dedicated compute capacity and support the deployment of nearly 100,000 NVIDIA Blackwell and next-gen GPUs, directly addressing Europe’s widening compute capacity gap.

“Europe is at a pivotal point in its AI infrastructure journey, and we’re building the foundation to support its digital sovereignty goals,” said a Hypertec spokesperson. “By aligning technology, operations, and cloud intelligence, this partnership sets a new global benchmark for AI infrastructure delivery.”

Hypertec is also actively exploring targeted acquisitions and collaborations with European stakeholders to ensure region-specific compliance, sustainability, and performance excellence.

"Hypertec's announcement in Europe embodies Canada's ambition to make innovation and artificial intelligence in particular a true driver of sovereignty, prosperity, and global collaboration. Supporting our tech companies as they grow and expand internationally means investing in sustainable solutions, Canadian competitiveness, and high-quality jobs for our talent." — The Honourable Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation, Government of Canada.

"Europe is at a pivotal moment in taking its place in the future of AI," said Simon Ahdoot, CEO of Hypertec. "Together with our strategic partners 5C and Together AI, we are investing in building one of the most sustainable and high-performance AI infrastructure platforms on the continent. This effort reflects our commitment to global AI leadership and our confidence in Europe's talent and innovation ecosystem."

By leveraging Hypertec's expertise in delivering the most sustainable AI servers and rapidly building high-performance data centers combined with 5C's proven large-scale infrastructure capabilities and Together AI's powerful cloud platform and open-source model ecosystem, this partnership will provide a comprehensive, end-to-end AI stack for enterprises, research institutions, and AI-native companies across Europe.

"Over the past 18 months, 5C has built and retrofitted multiple North American data centers as well as deployed several large-scale, high-performance AI clusters to meet the demands of the world's leading AI users," said Jonathan Ahdoot, CEO of 5C Group. "From engineering data centers and compute infrastructure to deploying and operating GPU clusters with advanced cooling technologies, we deliver unmatched performance, reliability, and speed. With Together AI and Hypertec, we are bringing this capability to Europe — tailored for local needs, digital sovereignty, and world-class sustainability."

"Europe's moment to have independence and leadership in AI requires platforms that enables its ambition," said Vipul Ved Prakash, CEO of Together AI. "By bringing our high-performance AI Cloud and the powerful developer platform for model inference and fine-tuning to Europe, we're enabling enterprises and researchers to harness open-source and custom frontier models with full control over performance, compliance, and cost. In partnership with 5C and Hypertec, we're building a sovereign, sustainable AI cloud purpose-built for the EU market."

The European AI Factory initiative will support the inference and fine-tuning of over 200 optimized open-source models—including DeepSeek and Llama LLMs—integrating the latest breakthroughs in AI scalability and efficiency. This approach accelerates deployment, ensures synchronized infrastructure rollouts, and delivers high-performance, regulation-ready AI cloud services—cutting both costs and deployment time for clients.

This development also complements Quebec and Canada's AI strategies, supporting Canadian engineering innovation and workforce development. Similar to its North American roadmap, 5C's European buildout includes 2 GW of new capacity through 2029, with 600MW coming online in 2025 and 2026.
